4. This is the same screen as method given above. Follow the wizard and after clicking finish you will get following screen and port group will be added to selected Virtual Switch.

Adding a Service Console

1. Connect to ESX server using VI (Virtual Infrastructure) client, click on networking and then click on “add networking”.

2. Select “service console” of add networking wizard and click next.

3. Select the virtual switch on which you want to add service console port group and click next.

4. Give label for service console port group and assign IP address & subnet mask. (In case of VMkernel and service console port group you need to assign IP address). It is not mandatory for this IP address to be in the same network of any other port groups. Click next.

5. Click finish. Now you check that this new IP is pingable on network.
