Step by step instructions to install VMware ESX Server 3.x

9. ESX 3.x Server Installation wizard will again give warning about removing all data. Click “yes”.

10. This screen shows summary of partitions which ESX Server installation wizard is going to create. You can check size of various partitions and click Next.

 

11. Under “Advanced Options” you can change the boot loader configuration. I always go with the default. Click Next.

12. Enter the IP address details. ESX Server installation wizard by default creates a Virtual Switch and a Service Console Port and assigns this IP Address to that port for ESX server management purpose. There is also option to give VLAN id and to create default network for virtual machines. Click Next.

13. Select your timezone and click Next.

14. Give password for root user. Click Next.

15. This is a summary page. You can review all the options you selected with ESX 3.x Server installation wizard. Click Next.

16. ESX Server installation wizard will start installing files. Wait for installation to complete. You will get following screen once installation is complete.

17. Remove media and click Finish to boot your ESX server for the first time. You will get following screen on successful completion of boot process.
